Running F zero GX at higher frame rates
Reply to this Post

 Hi, I'm new,

I'd like to get into F-zero GX because i'm under the impression that it is the most technical racing game out there and I love technical video games. Before I get into it I'd like the best experience possible. I recently bought this nice 165hz screen, and heard about fps unlocks for dolphin, but I cannot find if there is a patch for F-Zero GX. I figured the pros might know and that's why I came here.

Can you guys help?

We basically all play on console, with the standard 60hz framerate.

Aha. Thank you. I'll try looking somewhere else.

I haven't tried any Dolphin FPS hacks myself, but here's the blog post talking about the first FPS hack that was done (Sunshine at 60) - might be a good start: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2015/02/07/game-modification-60-fps-hacks/

Also, before you really get into it, I'd advise checking if your machine can run GX at a smooth 60 FPS first. It's one of the more CPU-intensive games to run on Dolphin. Test in a Grand Prix race (with 29 other machines), and test in courses where you can see a large amount of track ahead of you at once, like Port Town: Aero Dive. Those are probably the hardest situations to maintain 60 FPS in.
