e-Cards for F-Zero - GP Legend (J)?
Reply to this Post

Just recently I found out that there were e-cards released for F-Zero - GP Legend (J) but never made an international release. Well I looked at what the e-cards hold here. Several questions popped into my head:

  1. If I were to purchase F-Zero - GP Legend (J) at Play-Asia and then some e-cards for that game, would the Japanese e-cards work on an American e-Reader? (I already know that all Game Boy Advances are region free so the Japanese game will work on it.)
  2. I couldn't find the e-cards on Play-Asia. Where would I look?
  3. If all else fails, are there GameShark codes to hack the levels out of "hiding" on the American game?

1. No. It moves only with e-reader"+" sold in Japan.

2. It was confirmed to sell it on the auction site in Japan.

1 - The e-reader is region locked for the cards.  There are three types of e-readers:
     - Japan E-Reader: Only reads cards with 'E' on.
     - US E-Reader: Only reads english e-reader cards.
     - Japan E-Reader: Reads cards with 'E' and 'E+' on.

The F-ZERO GP cards are 'E+' cards, so you need to get the e-reader that can reads e+ cards.  The e-reader however will run on any region GBA.  Except the GB Micro.

If you need more information, let me know.

2 - The best place is http://japamart.com/index.htm

Just search for ' F-ZERO Falcon Densetsu'.  Beware that they charge a lot for postage (which I think is how they make money).  I had to pay £15 in total, just for 1 pack of the F-ZERO GP cards.  Sad

Here is one on auction at the moment: http://japamart.com/auctool.php?url=http://page15.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t180296779

3 - The E-Reader cards are not in the game.  The e-reader data gets stored in the save files.

I did manged to get the US/EU to read the data (using my Japan save) by using cheat codes, but it was just as easy to use the Japan version with the Japan save.
