sup.

the other day i was watching ed's stream and he was playing GX. i noticed that he was doing really good despite not using advanced techniques with Twin Noritta and we even started talking about the game and how the competition goes. then, the situation about later F-Zero games being pretty complex to learn came up when i asked about if he knew advanced techs and we even ended up discussing how the original F-Zero was still popular for TA thanks to it's simplicity. i then proposed that it'd be fun if there was a TN-only competition or ladder for people to play since this ship can't use many advanced techs and it is very fast naturally.

so, i decided to make this topic with a little competition involving TN only in every track in the game. the only rules would be use max speed settings to make all times directly comparable. there wouldn't be any difference in lower settings since TN doesn't gain speed with snaking motions and it can't fly but 100% max speed is just to use the ship at its best.

i got a MCTR time already the other day on stream. 59"805: www.twitch.tv/uchihasda/c/2024049

i have a CTT time that beats the staff already but i think i'll redo that for this later.

i think this should be a good way to get new people into the game. the only advanced moves you'd need is MT and MTRS and the rest is just basic racing. no side attacks, long MTS or weird stuff needed (the ship can't even do them)

edit: i've decided to expand this competition into including the Spreadsheet of all 41 ships VS the Staff Ghosts made by Yoshifan since the idea behind this competition is the base of that spreadsheet but extended to every ship. you can check out the spreadsheet and try to compete for the best known time in tracks that don't have one or beat an existing record. note that only times with videos can be added there so be sure to record your time and replay if you plan to add your record.

My best splits are as follow : 20"691, 13"907 & 13"126, for a total of 47"724. To get this kind of opener, one must get nearly all of the double boosts on the dash plates. Since I didn't get any 3rd lap at 12"xxx, anything is possible.

Thought there might be interest in this, so I added a simple "No SAs" tab to the spreadsheet.

Instead of being a non-side-attack version of the Main tab, I thought that for now it'd be more useful to list the non-SA runs that aren't on the Main tab (because there's a faster SA run). So there's no ghost counts or time totals for this tab.

I added some runs there already, but I haven't gone through Mengsk's runs yet, and I might've forgotten some others.

@Yoshifan, I think this is a good idea, even if there won't be that many runs to show off. On the top of my head, there are a few Wild Boar runs by Mengsk that are noteworthy which didn't use side-attacks. The runs I'm talking about are his BBO and PTAD runs (E-Dragon bested his BBO run, while I bested his PTAD run, both with side-attacks). I also liked how you (or whoever edited the spreadsheet lately) added Onsoku's ADS run with Sonic Phantom. I was going to point it out too but it was already added.

I'll upload 7 runs tommorrow, mostly improvements over previous times of mine, so get ready !

Lap 1 is mediocre, boost laps were alright. It is possible to get a shift-boost at the end of any boost lap, or right after the refiller that follows the ice patch. If anyone wants to improve this, go right ahead.
