Edit the courses that you play on in GP and TT/Pratice
Reply to this Post
I've found the offsets in the F-ZERO GP Legend (US) ROM which allows you to decide which courses to play on in Grand Prix and Time Trial/Traning.

What this means is:
- You can customise the Grand Prix.
- Play the Championship Track outside of Time Trial mode.
- Play the Single Pak VS Map - Calm Sea in any mode.
- Play two full loop Story Mode courses outside Story mode.
- Play the other 1 lap Story Mode courses outside Story mode (while playable, the lap will always stay the same, except for the Port Town which strangely enough loops and you boost fire at the start).
- Play some unused courses (they seem to be slightly modified versions of the Platium courses, like Mute City II has mines).

The e-reader courses are nowhere to be found as the data is stored on the e+ cards and the data is saved into the save file.

I did try and put a cheat code togther but the RAM values are used for other stuff as well and even then only work slightly.  Modifying the rom data (which cheat codes can't do) is the best bet for now.

This is what I've gathered togther:

Wow, seriously cool. Good finds. Maybe we can add this to the articles section on the site, for ROM players its as cool a thing as any to know.

When I get some spare time, I'll put the informtion into a suitable article. Smile

For those who have the US version of F-ZERO GP Legend and a Code Breaker (GBA Cheat Cartrdge), use this code to change the course:

Press Select before playing a course in Time Attack/Tranning mode.
74000130 03FB
33002ED2 00XX

XX = Map Value.  See first post.

Press "Select" while viewing the front view of the course.  While the name of the course won't change, the front view course will.  Then go and play the course.  Beware that playing the course in Time Trial mode as the times (if you beat the current ones) will get saved.

Nice finds, especially the unused courses. Do they look anything like the Platinum Cup courses from Climax?

The unused courses look to be the same as the orginal Platinum Cup Courses with minor changes.  I've not examied all of them closely but Mute City II has mines placed at the end of the course.  From the looks of it, Nintendo were planning on putting "Expert" Platinum Courses in but changed there mind.

For those who have a GBGA Cheat Cartridge, use these codes:

F-ZERO GP Legend - Select Course in Time Attack/Training mode (Works on JP, US and EU version).

XX = Course Value (See My First Post)

Code Breaker:
Load Course 1 - Sel + L
74000130 01FB
33002ED2 00XX

Load Course 2 - Sel + R
74000130 02FB
33002ED2 00XX

Action Replay (not encrypted):
Load Course 1 - Sel + L
4A302474 0000FE04
00302ED2 000000XX

Load Course 2 - Sel + R
4A302474 0000FD04
00302ED2 000000XX

Those who are using the "Action Replay" codes will need to encrypt them, otherwise they will not work.  To do that:

2 - Open AR Crypt.
3 - In the "From" frame, select "RAW".
4 - In the "Output Format", select "Auto".
5 - In the "To" frame, select "ARv3/4" (Select "ARv1/2" if your cheat device is Version 1 or 2).
6 - Paste the first row of the code in the left text box.
7 - Press the "Proceed" button
8 - The text box in the right contains the encrypted first row code.  I advise you copy it into notepad/wordpad/word document.
9 - Repeat Steps 6 - 8 for the remaing row of codes.

hmmm well, if those plat courses have minor changes like the mc2 mines you mention, then better that they weren't included with the others because 41 courses was already very tedious to TT properly.

could you get some pics of them at least? i'd like to see them.

also, is there a chance you could make a cheat code for an upgraded gameshark? i have one of those and upgraded it to v3 with the usb cable some years ago to catch a few event-only pokemon.

UchihaSasuke, the Upgraded Gameshark uses the Action Replay version 3.3 Firmware.  So just use the Action Replay code (convert the codes from RAW to ARv3/4).  You got the same device as me. Smile  More details here: akadewboy.awardspace.com/gbacheats/gbacheat.htm

I need to obtain the "Must Be On" codes, otherwise the cheats won't work (unless your using Visual Boy Advancem, then you don't need them).  For now, check this website on how to do that: doc.kodewerx.org/hacking_gba.html

Also, here are the screenshots of "Mute City II":

I modified the code to work in VS Multi-Pak.  The only catch is, each player must use the code, otherwise the players won't be on the same course. Razz

Code Breaker
Multi Player Select Course - Sel + L (Both players must have the code activated. Both must hold Sel + L while picking a Cup):
74000130 01FB
33002FA1 00XX

The below code is just for safe keeping.  It allows the user to pick change the pilot (Lucy at the moment) to use when on the Pilot Select screen by pressing "Select".  The only thing that doesn't change is the Pilot's picture.

Code Breaker
Press Select on Car Select to play as Lucy:
74000130 03FB
33003016 0020
74000130 03FB
33002E54 0021

I just modified the code so you just press the Select button now.  The L+Sel and R+Sel didn't work correctly on my Action Replay device.

Thank you for the codes! Could you please make any such codes for Maximum Velocity and Climax, too? I'd love to race on Silence on MV without having to play single-pak multiplayer.
